Janine joined the Council in May 2019 as the Director, Health System Improvement. Prior to this, she enjoyed many years with Interior Health, most recently as the Network Director, Surgical Services where she was privileged to lead an exceptional team implementing large scale change in service delivery for surgery and endoscopy care, medical device reprocessing and wound and ostomy care. Before this, she worked for the Government of Saskatchewan as they developed provincial strategies to address surgery wait times and reporting, as well as telehealth supports.
Janine’s passion for patient safety and quality service delivery developed early from personal experience with her close-knit family. This passion was enhanced when she entered the Health Care Administration program at the University of Saskatchewan. She enjoys working with stakeholders to develop concrete action plans based on best evidence, employing change management strategies and applying common sense approaches to gain consensus and build partnerships in health care settings.
Janine holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan with a double major in Health Care Administration and Human Resource Management. She was trained as a Lean Leader with Interior Health and has completed and taught numerous leadership courses over the years, including project management, conflict in the workplace and leading teams.
Outside of work, Janine enjoys spending time with her toddler and husband, travelling to visit family in Saskatchewan and boating on Okanagan Lake.
