Tara is passionate about system change and improving our health care system and she is thrilled to be part of the Council. Tara has ten years of experience in health care focused quality improvement. Tara has extensive experience as a community based researcher and has worked collaboratively with diverse teams of academics, clinicians, patients, and service providers. At Nine Circles Community Health Centre, in Winnipeg, she led the research, development, and evaluation of several innovative programs providing clinical and social supports to people living with HIV. Tara has been able to apply her skills and training internationally, by leading community development projects in Kenya (Canadian International Development Agency) and Zambia (International Development Enterprises Canada). After moving to Vancouver Island, Tara joined the Oceanside Division of Family Practice as Executive Director, supporting family physicians to design innovative solutions to community health and increase physician engagement in healthcare planning.

Tara completed her graduate studies at Queen’s University (M.A.) and has also completed graduate courses in urban planning, community health sciences, and program evaluation. She joined the Council in October 2016.
