Ethics in Quality Improvement and Evaluation

Within healthcare, quality improvement (QI) and evaluation projects have become increasingly important, multiplying in number and growing in complexity. QI and evaluation projects do raise ethical concerns and would benefit from an ethics assessment process that identifies issues and provides appropriate oversight to ensure respect for the rights of people. An overview of the “project ethics” resources available through the Alberta Research Ethics Community Consensus Initiative (ARECCI) Network will be provided. The ARECCI Project Ethics Framework, Tools and Educational Modules are an evolving best practice for the management of ethics-related risks in health and human service projects that involve people or their information. This webinar introduced the resources available and seeked feedback from participants on the potential for use in BC.
