Join Us in the Fight Against Sepsis

September 13 is World Sepsis Day!

Seven years ago, we created the BC Sepsis Network to support the sepsis improvement work of health care providers across the province. In honour of World Sepsis Day, we’re working alongside members of our network to plan activities to increase sepsis awareness among patients, families and caregivers.

Learn About Sepsis
Sepsis is the body’s extreme response to an infection. It’s life-threatening and, without timely treatment, can rapidly lead to tissue damage, organ failure and, possibly, death. Learn what you need to know as a patient in this infographic, and visit the BC Sepsis Network and World Sepsis Day websites for more information.

Visit the Sepsis Awareness Booth in Vancouver
On World Sepsis Day, visit the World Sepsis Day Public Advocacy Booth at Robson Square from 1100 to 1800 to join health care professionals, patient partners and health researchers in sepsis awareness activities. There will be patient partners sharing sepsis survival stories and much more.

Read Sepsis Survival Stories
Many people have had very personal encounters with sepsis; some stories end on a positive note, and some paint a picture of the difficult road that many sepsis survivors face. In the week leading up to World Sepsis Day, visit our website to read sepsis survival stories

Spread the Word about Sepsis
Share the infographic, use #WorldSepsisDay and #StopSepsis and tag @BCSepsis and @WorldSepsisDay in your tweets to promote World Sepsis Day. This info kit has post  ideas to share on your social media profiles.

You can also add a World Sepsis Day frame to your Facebook profile. Just click on your profile picture, then click on “add frame” and search for the World Sepsis Day frame.

The BC Sepsis Network provides support for health care providers in BC to share resources, improve consistency of care, spread innovation and improvement ideas, and collaborate on change. Join the Network to stay up-to-date on sepsis care in BC!
