Engage to Improve: Using Liberating Structures in Everyday Interactions

We often save innovative facilitation techniques for special occasions – conferences, public dialogues and other collaborative events. However, we can also use these techniques to free our regular meetings and interactions from the behaviours and challenges that limit our excitement and innovation.

Join Anthony Gagné and Cathy Almost from the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council as they discuss opportunities to use Liberating Structures in your quality improvement work every day, as well as challenges you may encounter when doing so.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • describe the theory behind Liberating Structures and how they can free us to innovative and explore complex challenges;
  • explore how Liberating Structures can be used in regular work and interactions;
  • discuss how Liberating Structures can foster more participatory meeting; and
  • state key concerns and opportunities for using Liberating Structures to facilitate virtual meetings.
