Join the Public Health Association of British Columbia (PHABC) for the 9th annual PHABC Summer School to explore the theme “The Public Health Approach: Building Safe and Inclusive Communities.”
Drawing practitioners of public health from around the province, PHABC’s annual Summer School is British Columbia’s leading forum for inspiration, sharing, and learning on public health and health equity at the individual, health care system, and community level.
There are several topics being presented in the upcoming summer school, including:
- Health equity in practice
- Building healthy, safe and inclusive environments
- Healthy relationships for children and youth
- Literacy and inclusion
- Emergency response
Within these topics there will be examples of collaboration, community engagement, and innovation.
This two-day workshop is designed to help you identify public health approaches to building safe and inclusive communities; understand how physical and social environments influence community safety, inclusion and health; assess barriers to safety and inclusion in your own communities; and examine innovative and collaborative methods of promoting community safety and inclusion.
The event’s main sites are located at the University of Victoria, UBC, UBC Okanagan, and the University of Northern BC.
