World Patient Safety Day 2020 is focused on Safe health workers, Safe patients. This global campaign was created in 2019 to raise awareness of patient safety and urge people to show their commitment to making health care safer.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the forefront the risks and challenges that health workers are facing globally, which can mean a greater chance of error leading to patient harm. This year’s theme underscores the importance of both health worker and patient safety in strengthening the health care system and saving lives.
To help you celebrate World Patient Safety Day, we’re sharing some ways you can get involved and spread this campaign.
- On September 17, the Canadian Patient Safety Institute (CPSI) is premiering “Building a Safer System,” a documentary showcasing the 17-year impact of their organization – followed by an expert panel discussion on health worker and patient safety. Learn more and register here.
- As a way to help you “Speak up for health worker safety!” The CPSI has also put together a toolkit to help you share World Patient Safety Day messages on your communication channels and raise awareness for World Patient Safety Day.
