The BC Critical Care Database started in 1997/98 between Vancouver General Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital and the Capital Health Region. Since then it has grown and now includes the majority of Intensive Care Units across the province, including those from Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, Vancouver Island Health Authority, Northern Health Authority and Interior Health Authority.
Critical Care data for patient admissions to Intensive Care Units (and High Acuity Units) are collected and input into the database for a wide variety of purposes. The data is used for quality assurance, quality improvement, administrative/operational purposes, reporting and research to inform evidence-based decision making.
The purpose of this site is to provide resources around the content, development and use of the BC Critical Care Database.
