COVID-19 Through a Quality Lens: 911 and Treatment-in-Place in Long-Term Care | 2020-07-28

81% of COVID-19 deaths in Canada are occurring in long-term care (LTC) facilities. In response to the provincial health officer’s recommendation to mitigate acute care transfers for LTC residents when appropriate, the Provincial Transport Emergency Operations Centre partnered with LTC stakeholders to develop a person- and family-centred approach to support treatment-in-place versus ambulance transport to the local emergency department. This work resulted in the implementation of a clinical care pathway and 911 transfer algorithm.

This webinar will cover what the Provincial Transport Emergency Operations Centre experienced and learned:

  • Drivers of change
  • Expected outcomes
  • Clinical care processes
  • Key lessons and takeaways
  • Next steps (sustainment)
