How can we improve patient satisfaction and patient outcomes while also increasing our joy, collaboration and enjoyment at work? Improving workplace culture not only helps you enjoy your individual work, but also has huge benefits for patients, their outcomes and the health care system as a whole. In this Quality Café, you’ll learn about the important role that culture plays in work and how factors such as teamwork and communication can lead to major improvements for patient and teams.
No matter where you work in health care, this Quality Café will provide you with insights into improving culture to help patients, your team, and the health care system as a whole.
Objectives:
By the end of this Quality Café, you will be able to:
- Relate how culture and joy improve patient satisfaction and system-level and clinical outcomes;
- Uncover the value that working on culture has for patients and teams; and
- Discover ways to increase joy at work.
Presenters:
Danielle Simpson and Jennie Aitken are both Leaders on the Health System Improvement team at the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council. They are also the co-facilitators for the Council’s upcoming Teamwork & Communication Action Series.
