Preventing venous thromboembolism (VTE) successfully requires MORE than just having preprinted order sets and policies. Real, sustained improvement comes from educated healthcare professionals who understand the rationale, risks and prevention strategies for prophylaxis. Educating health professionals in VTE is one of Accreditation Canada’s Required Organizational Practices.

Learn how two of our local BC hospitals have designed and implemented VTE education programs. QI Consultant Jennifer Stieda BSc BEd showcases the Interior Health VTE education program, and RN Educator Christine Jerrett RN BSN describes Providence Health’s RN learning initiative.
